FAQs
GTSSWA is a Teacher oriented Association that was established to secure a better economic and social base for the teaching fraternity and by extension their family.
This Association is unique; it was formed by teachers, for teachers, and provides a type of service that cannot be found in any part of the Caribbean. By paying a minimal subscription it qualifies you to great benefits and also gives you an opportunity to make an impact in the growth, development and longevity of the Association.
If you are between the ages of 18 and 50 you are eligible to become a member.
This is based mainly on the fact that one is qualified for retirement after fifteen (15) years of membership, and the aim of the Association is for all members to have access to all benefits offered.
In order to become a member, an application form must be filled; Entrance fee of $25.00 paid then a monthly subscription of $30.00 payment will be in effect.

After six (6) months of membership a member can claim for benefits except for:

Marriage – 2 years
Retirement – 15 years
The maximum loan offered is $10,000.00
The following can be used as security for loans:
– Land Deed
– Insurance Policy
– Cash Assignment
– Shares Assignment
Loans with the Bank and Credit Union are insured. In the case of GTSSWA our loans are not insured therefore security is essential to minimise risk of loss of monies.
Scholarships are mostly costly and $30.00 subscription would not be able to cover or maintain such high cost additional to the benefits that are already being paid. However, members are encouraged to make application for loan to fund their studies.
When a member wants to terminate their membership before fifteen years of membership, the rules do not make any provision for refund. Subscription is non-refundable unless in the case of bonus.
